CalPortland is proud to announce that Nicholas Vazquez, Safety Manager for the Oregon and Southwest Washington regions, has been awarded with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) Annual Safety Award.
The NRMCA Annual Safety Award is presented to an individual or company whose actions represent the very highest standards in advancing safety in the ready mixed concrete industry. According to the NRMCA, the award recognizes outstanding achievements ranging from single, life-saving actions to long-term commitment and leadership in fostering safety and health practices across the industry.
Nicholas has been a valued member of the CalPortland team for 17 years. He began his career as a loader operator and batch plant operator, gaining hands-on knowledge of daily operations. In 2018, he was promoted to Safety Manager, where his leadership and dedication to workplace safety have made a lasting impact.
“Consistent safety audits with employee and management involvement have been key, along with a collaborative approach to safety with our employees in all aspects of our diverse operations,” said Nicholas when reflecting on the recognition.
