PCA Announces 2018 Chairman’s Safety Performance Award Winners

April 24, 2018, WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Portland Cement Association (PCA) announced the winners of the Chairman’s Safety Performance Awards, which recognize outstanding safety performance in the manufacturing of portland cement, the core ingredient used in all forms of concrete. Presented at the 2018 Cement and Concrete Industry Fly-In event, nine winners were selected from 100 cement facilities across the U.S. that were found to be the highest performers in safety.

“The cement facilities recognized today have achieved stellar safety results,” said Allen Hamblen, PCA Chairman and President and CEO of CalPortland. “Safety is a primary focus for the cement industry—the safety of our plants and the people who work in them. We applaud this year’s winners for their singular dedication.”

One of the three 2018 PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Award winners today in the Category: 227,001-289,000 hours is the CalPortland cement plant located in Rillito, AZ.

The PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Award is a prestigious industry safety award to receive by PCA member companies. The Rillito Cement Plant is a past PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Award winner and has a rich history in jobsite safety, one of CalPortland’s key core values.
