CalPortland is proudly celebrating our 125 Year Anniversary in September, 2016. Not many companies (especially established in California) have anniversaries that even come close to 125 years! The official term of a 125 Year Anniversary is the Quasquicentennial.
The roots of the company were established in 1891 in Colton, CA where a cement production facility was constructed. The plant was the first cement production facility constructed west of the Rocky Mountains and provided the durable construction materials for the development of Los Angeles and the expanding southwestern United States. Building the Colton cement plant also carries with it the distinction that CalPortland is the oldest continuous operating cement producer west of the Rocky Mountains.
Over the years, CalPortland has consolidated with many companies who have long histories of their own. Pioneer Sand and Gravel, Glacier Sand and Gravel, and Riverside Cement are a few of those companies that are also all over 100 years old.
These companies bring with them a legacy of excellence and iconic projects that have allowed CalPortland to expand to currently serve six western states and two Canadian Provinces. With operations in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada and Arizona, CalPortland also serves the Canadian Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
Vertically integrated in the production of cement, aggregates, ready mixed concrete, asphalt and construction services, CalPortland is dedicated to using all of our resources to help make our customers successful. EXPECT MORE … WE DELIVER!®
